Gov. Ron DeSantis appointed Myakka City resident Jack Bispham Tuesday to serve on the Southwest Florida Water Management District governing board.

Bispham owned Bayside Sod from 1988 until 2018 and currently is the owner of Red Bluff Plantation.

A graduate of Riverview High School and the University of Florida, Bispham has experience with the Water Management District as a member of the District’s Manasota Basin Board. Bispham also has served on the Sarasota Estuary Bay Program Policy Board.

Florida’s water management districts have significant taxing authority. They manage water resources for large swaths of the state, touching on everything from agriculture to drinking water supplies and major conservation efforts.

Bispham was appointed to a four-year term.
