Flagler wetland meeting site changed

Staff Report

FLAGLER BEACH – The second of two community meetings regarding the Flagler County Wetland Restoration Project has been moved to a new location.

It will be held at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 7 at Santa Maria del Mar Catholic Church, 915 N. Central Ave., Flagler Beach. The church can comfortably seat about 1,000 people. Meeting information is available at sjrwmd.com/facts/flagler-wetland-restoration-project. The public can provide input by emailing FlaglerRestoration@sjrwmd.com.

The project is the result of a partnership between the St. Johns River Water Management District, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection State Parks and Aquatic Preserves programs.

It consists of moving spoil piles back into man-made ditches and grading material to the elevation that matches surrounding natural wetland.
