Water main breaks in south DeLand; boil water notice issued

Businesses and some homes in south DeLand are being advised to boil water until further notice following a water main break Tuesday, an official said.

Included in the advisory are businesses located east of Woodland Boulevard from Golf Club Drive/Deerfoot Road and south to the West Volusia Regional Shopping Center, which lost water, city spokesman Chris Graham said. Water for most customers was restored by 4 p.m.

Crews are expected to work through the night to fix the water main line, which was broken about 11:30 a.m. by a contractor who was fixing a reclaimed water line at the intersection of Orange Camp Road and Woodland Boulevard, Graham said.

The eastbound lane of Orange Camp will likely be closed for several days as crews repave it.
