The City of High Springs considered a resolution opposing the renewal of an application to pump water out of Ginnie Springs Thursday.

The resolution claims the permit would have "a negative impact on Ginnie Springs and the entire Florida aquifer."

One of Nestle's suppliers is asking the Suwannee River Water Management District to pump over a million gallons of water per day from Ginnie springs.

The application comes through Seven Springs Water Company, a locally owned company with a contract to sell bottled water to Nestle.

The commission decided not to adopt nor deny the resolution, but instead write a "strongly worded letter".
