ST. LUCIE COUNTY — A boil-water notice issued for St. Lucie West Services District customers was lifted Tuesday after a water main line was repaired.

The boil-water notice was announced Monday morning after a contractor hit a water line as an underground LP gas line was being installed  about 9 a.m., according to William Hayden, assistant district manager/public works director for the St. Lucie West Services District.

In a notice from the Services District Tuesday, the water main was fixed and the utility has flushed out  the system.

"We have also satisfactorily completed a bacteriological survey showing that the water is safe to drink," according to the Services District notice, penned by Chief Water Plant Operator Richard Riniolo and Assistant Utilities Director Tom Stirzinger.

The work was being done on Southwest California Boulevard, Hayden said. Water pressure loss affected all customers, which he said totaled about 7,500.

If there are questions, the public can contact Riniolo at 772-340-0220, according to the notice.
