A boil water advisory went out when a water main broke in Satellite Beach.

City of Melbourne officials late Saturday afternoon lifted a precautionary boil water notice in much of the affected areas of Satellite Beach.

Following work to repair a broken water main and the satisfactory completion of the bacteriological survey showing that the water is safe to drink, city officials lifted the advisory in most locations.

However, excluded areas and addresses that remain under a boil water alert include: 600 Jackson Court and the following addresses on South Patrick Drive: 1100, 1128, 1152, 1166, 1170, 1176 and 1180.

The remainder of the area, stretching from DeSoto Parkway northward to the Pineda Causeway, is no longer affected by the boil water alert that went into effect Thursday.

The broken water main was located and repaired Friday morning in an area around Jackson Avenue and South Patrick Drive.
