PORT ST. LUCIE — A boil-water notice will be issued for St. Lucie West Services District customers after a contractor struck a water main line Monday morning, an official said.

A contractor was putting in an underground LP gas line when the water line was hit about 9 a.m., according to William Hayden, assistant district manager/public works director for the St. Lucie West Services District.

The work was being done on Southwest California Boulevard, Hayden said.

Hayden said this caused water pressure loss to all customers, which he said totaled about 7,500.

Hayden said crews were making repairs and pressures were back up.

Hayden said a district-wide boil water notice will be in effect for 48 hours.
