The no-swim advisory issued this week for Brohard Beach has been lifted, the Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County announced Saturday.

After elevated levels were detected earlier this week, follow-up testing indicates that enterococcus bacteria — organisms that can come from a variety of natural and human-made sources, such as stormwater runoff and human sewage from failed septic systems and sewage spills — were within acceptable limits.

Residents and visitors may return to swimming and any other water recreational activities, health officials said.
