The Panama City Beach Council met to discuss various ordinances.

Among the topics were the first readings of water and wastewater impact fees as well as sewer and reclaimed water rate increases.

With both of the ordinances approved for a second reading, the council moved on to the building maintenance code enforcement ordinance.

Some voiced their concerns.

The council explained why such enforcements on building appearances are needed.

“The codes that we had before dealt with the structural damage. This gives us the ability to get in front of it, before it actually starts to truly damage the house. It’s in their best interest to do these things and it gives us the tool, because we just did not have the tool,” said Mario Gisbert, City Manager.

The water and wastewater as well as sewer and reclaimed water rate increase ordinances will have their second reading on September 27th.
