Pilot program in DeBary aims to reduce algal blooms by ‘mechanical harvesting’

ORLANDO, Fla. —

A project aims to reduce Algal blooms on the stretch of water that connects Gemini Springs Run to the St Johns River.

Professionals physically remove problematic vegetation to efforts to minimize (harmful) nutrients and increase the flow. This practice is called “mechanical harvesting.”
