Crews in Hallandale Beach on Monday were working to repair a water main at 330 SE 2nd Street, one of several such incidents in Broward County the past few days.

Residents and businesses in the affected area may experience service interruptions and low water pressure until repairs are completed.

News of the repairs came just a few hours after the City of Fort Lauderdale lifted a boil-water advisory that had been in place for residents of Hendricks Isle since Saturday after a water main break there. The boil-water advisory was rescinded after two days of tests showed clean water running through the pipes.

On Sunday, the City of Fort Lauderdale lifted a separate boil-water notice that had been in place since Friday for the area of Northeast 2 Court and Northeast 16 Terrace, where repairs were completed on a 4-inch water main.

The state criticized the city recently for not keeping an up-to-date map of its water-main control valves and not routinely checking the valves to make sure they work.

Fort Lauderdale is now under orders from the state to map all of its underground water pipes and control valves within three years, according to a July 24 letter from the state Department of Environmental Protection.

The state also cited Fort Lauderdale for failing to notify agency officials about three water-main breaks in 2019 that led to boil-water orders.

Fort Lauderdale residents with questions can contact the city’s 24-Hour Neighbor Call Center at 954-828-8000.
