LAKELAND — Southbound lanes of South Florida Avenue at Doris Drive near Winner's Circle were closed because of a water main break Wednesday afternoon.

Lakeland Police Department spokesman Gary Gross said the road was so flooded that it started to buckle, and that it would be at least eight hours before the road would open.

According to Lakeland spokesman Kevin Cook, there is no boil water notice at this time and there are no residents or businesses reported without water.

"Crews are still digging to locate the leak, so we don't know exactly the cause of the leak until we get to it," Cook said late Wednesday afternoon. "Once found, then we will shut the water off to make the repairs. When that happens, there will be customers without water."
