STUART— A tractor-trailer hit a water line in the Martin Square Plaza at U.S. 1 and Southeast Indian Street Wednesday, causing  parts of The Home Depot's back parking lot to flood and collapse.

Chick-fil-A remains the only business in the plaza that's closed Thursday. A sign on the store's front door said the fast-food restaurant would reopen Saturday at 10:30 a.m., citing a 72-hour boil water notice as the cause for the store's closure.

"In order to protect the health of you (our customers), we have chosen to remain closed until the boil water notice is lifted...," a sign on the door read.

Ron Malits, a manager at The Home Depot, said an independent tractor-trailer hit the line Wednesday around 9 a.m.

The impact caused part of the parking lot to flood and for part of the area to collapse.

Water had to be shut off Wednesday at The Home Depot for about three hours, he said.

The water being turned off meant the business had to close its restrooms, but otherwise the store resumed business as usual.

Malits said the collapsed portion of the back parking lot is expected to be repaired Friday.

City of Stuart spokesman Ben Hogarth said Thursday the owner of the private plaza is responsible for fixing the water line because it's on private property.

According to the Martin County Property Appraiser's website, the plaza belongs to a company called Lakeworth Town Plaza LLC. State Corporate records show Lakeworth Town Plaza LLC. is owned by Daisy Reyes, who has a mailing address in North Miami.

Hogarth said nearby residential areas were not affected by the incident.
