A boil water notice was issued Thursday for about 785 Palm Coast Utility customers after a valve failed during a water main project, according to a media release from the city.

The city expects to restore water service by 6 p.m. but a boil water notice will be in place through at least Saturday.

The notice affects homes along Ryan Drive and all streets that connect to Ryan Drive. The city is posting information on the doors of affected homes this afternoon, according to the release.

Customers must boil any water to be used for drinking or cooking. However, there is no need to boil water for bathing or laundry, the release states. Residents will be notified by door tag once the city confirms the water is safe to drink and the boil water notice is lifted.
